MRV-MS
Stereo Microscope Polariscope Strain Viewer

Microscope-based residual stress and birefringence inspection system for transparent materials.

MRV-MS upgrades an existing stereo microscope into a transmitted-light polarized strain inspection system. By attaching the microscope filter holder and polarizing / sensitive color analyzer to the objective lens area and placing the polarized transmitted LED light source on the stage, small transparent parts can be inspected under magnification.

Crossed-Nicols Sensitive Color Method Stereo Microscope Use Portable Inspection Setup

MRV-MS Stereo Microscope Polariscope System

  • Crossed-Nicols and sensitive color observation
Suitable for a wide range of transparent materials, from plastic parts with clear residual stress to glass and acrylic parts with more subtle birefringence.
  • Compact and portable microscope strain viewer
The system can be assembled and disassembled easily, making it practical for on-site inspection, field work and small-lot quality checks.
  • Flexible microscope combination
The basic set can upgrade an existing stereo microscope. Complete sets with a recommended trinocular zoom stereo microscope and camera documentation options can also be configured.

Sensitive color observation example

Sensitive Color Observation

Useful for visualizing subtle stress distribution by adding color contrast to birefringence patterns.

Crossed-Nicols Method

Place polarizer and analyzer at crossed axes to observe stress-related birefringence in transparent samples.

Sensitive color microscope strain inspection sample

Color-Enhanced Inspection

The sensitive color method makes stress direction and distribution easier to compare visually during inspection.
