LED Epi-Light for Fluorescence Excitation

Flexible twin-arm gooseneck LED light sources for stereo microscope fluorescence observation

Mecan LED epi-light sources provide selected excitation wavelengths from above or from an oblique angle. The flexible twin-arm design makes it easy to adjust the illumination angle, working distance and light balance around a stereo microscope or inspection setup.

The lineup includes the high-intensity HDA Series and the compact SDA Series. Select the LED wavelength according to the fluorescent reagent, specimen, emission filter and camera system. For clear fluorescence observation, an appropriate emission filter or filter holder system is usually required.

LED Epi-Light Lineup

These LED epi-light systems are designed for fluorescence excitation where transmitted illumination is not suitable or where flexible top / side illumination is preferred. They are especially useful for stereo microscope observation, small specimen screening and fluorescence documentation with a suitable emission filter.

HDA Series HDA Series twin-arm LED epi-light for fluorescence excitation
High-Intensity · Twin Arm · Epi
High-intensity, flexible twin-arm LED lighting for microscope fluorescence excitation. The gooseneck arms allow the illumination angle to be adjusted for specimen shape, working distance and observation contrast.
SDA Series SDA Series compact twin-arm LED epi-light for fluorescence excitation
Compact · Twin Arm · Epi
Compact and cost-effective LED twin flexible arm light for fluorescence excitation. Suitable for simple stereo microscope fluorescence observation and small laboratory setups where space and budget are important.
Main models: HDA-TB3 (470 nm), HDA-TG3 (530 nm), SDA-B4 (470 nm), SDA-C4 (505 nm)

Model and Wavelength Selection Guide

Series / Model LED Wavelength Positioning Typical Use
HDA-TB3 470 nm Blue LED High-intensity HDA Series Blue-light fluorescence excitation for dyes and markers that respond around the blue region.
HDA-TG3 530 nm Green LED High-intensity HDA Series Green-region fluorescence excitation for suitable orange / red emission workflows.
SDA-B4 470 nm Blue LED Compact SDA Series Compact blue-light excitation for simple fluorescence observation.
SDA-C4 505 nm Cyan LED Compact SDA Series Cyan / green-region excitation for compatible fluorescent stains and observation setups.
Selection point: The best LED wavelength depends on the fluorescent reagent, specimen, excitation spectrum, emission filter and camera sensitivity. Please confirm the dye/filter combination before final selection.

Emission Filter and Observation Notes

  • Flexible twin-arm positioning helps optimize reflection, shadow and fluorescence contrast.
  • Oblique epi-light is useful when the specimen cannot be illuminated from below.
  • For fluorescence imaging, an emission filter matched to the dye is normally required.
  • Final image quality also depends on microscope optics, camera sensitivity and ambient light control.
