Linear Polarized 3D System ? Circular Polarized 3D System ? which should I select ? |
|
Linear polarizer system is suffice for most 3D theatrical environment where
audiences sit still with their head position fixed during the show. However, for those with where audiences' head is moved and shaken constantly like in a theme-park ride, circular polarizer system is preferred. |

How Does Polarizer 3D work ? |
The human brain composes surrounding 3D image from parallax. Using same principal, it is possible to recreate artificial 3D image by having two cameras shooting the object from two slightly different perspective. By letting the only right eye see the image captured with right camera and only left eye see the image captured with left camera, it enables to see stereoscopic images on a 2D screen |
Linear Polarizer 3D System |
Light is blocked when two linear polarizers are stacked in a manner that
their respective absorption axes are set at perpendicular to each other, and light is transmitted when absorption axes are set at parallel. Linear 3D polarizer setup above applies this principals and allows only right eye to see right projector image, and left eye to see left projector image, creating 3D (stereoscopic) image in the viewer's brain as a result. |
Circular Polarizer 3D System |
Light is blocked when Left & Right polarizers are stacked with respective retarder film sides facing each other. Circular 3D polarizer setup above applies this principals and allows only right eye to see right projector image, and left eye to see left projector image, creating 3D (stereoscopic) image in the viewer's brain as a result. |
Note : | |
@ | The rotating axis (of projected image) is reversed when reflected on the
screen Therefore, it is required to use left circular polarizer for right eye projector, and vice versa. |
A | Circular polarizer maintains light blockage even when the relative angles
is altered. Yet, blockage is most efficient when absorption axis are set at perpendicular to each other |
Linear & Circular Polarizer Film / Glass for 3D Projector |
Super durable linear polarizer MUHD40S (Dye type & High heat resistance) is recommended for linear polarizer 3D system. For circular polarizer system, we have MCPR / MCPL (retardation at 140 nm) and also CP125R / CP125L (retardation at 125 nm). Please select the one compatible with your particular 3D glasses. |
High heat resistance Linear and Circular Polarizer Glass for 3D projection are also available. Polarizer film MUHD40S is sandwiched in between optical glass. In addition, precision ground finish prevents image distortion and thus capable to produce a crisp 3D image. |

Notice : |
Due to its catadioptric effect, regular white screen inhibits optical property of polarizer film (making it difficult to separate left and right images) Therefore, please make sure to use high refraction 3D silver screen for 3D projection |
