Wire Grid Polarizing Film

Film-based reflective polarizer using a metal nano-wire grid structure

Wire grid polarizing film is a reflective polarizer film that uses a fine metal nano-wire grid structure to separate polarization. It transmits one polarization component and reflects the orthogonal component.

Compared with standard absorptive polarizer films, it can reduce absorption loss and heat generation in suitable optical systems. It is used for visible to infrared applications, polarizing beam splitters, AR glass, sensors, cameras, machine vision and industrial inspection.

What wire grid polarizing film is used for

Wire grid polarizing film is used where reflective polarization separation, heat resistance and broad wavelength usability are required.

Typical applications include polarizing beam splitters, AR glass, head-up displays, cameras, sensors, machine vision, industrial inspection and NIR optical systems.

  • Reflects one polarization component and transmits the other.
  • Useful from visible light to infrared light.
  • Film format allows easier processing than many rigid components.

Features of Wire Grid Polarizing Film

Feature Description
Reflective Polarizer Transmits one polarization component and reflects the orthogonal polarization component.
Reduced Absorption Loss Because it is not a standard absorptive polarizer, it can reduce heat generation caused by absorption in suitable optical systems.
Flexible Film Format The film format provides better processability than many rigid wire-grid optical components.
Broad Wavelength Usability Suitable for visible to infrared applications depending on the optical design and required performance.
Heat Resistance Better heat resistance than many general absorptive polarizer films. Representative durability conditions include 60℃ / 90%RH / 1500h and 105℃ / dry / 1000h.
Machine Vision and Sensors Suitable for polarization control in machine vision, infrared optical systems, optical sensors and camera-based inspection applications.

FAQ - Wire Grid Polarizing Film

Q. What is a wire grid polarizing film?
A. It is a reflective polarizer film that uses a fine metal nano-wire grid structure. It transmits one polarization component and reflects the orthogonal component.

Q. How is it different from a standard absorptive polarizer film?
A. Standard absorptive polarizers mainly absorb the blocked polarization component. Wire grid polarizers reflect the blocked component, which can reduce absorption loss and improve heat resistance in suitable optical systems.

Q. What is the advantage of a wire grid polarizer?
A. A wire grid polarizer reflects unwanted polarization instead of absorbing it, which can reduce heat generation and improve performance in high-power or infrared optical systems.

Q. Is this product still available?
A. It is available only from limited remaining stock on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact us to confirm current stock before ordering.

Q. Can NIR polarizer film replace this product?
A. Not directly. NIR polarizer film is structurally different and is not a one-to-one replacement. However, it may be a practical successor option for some near-infrared applications.
