When reflected on a surface, transmitted light goes through circular polarized
film which changes its rotation in its opposite direction. (ex, left rotation
⇒ right rotation).
Using this trait, circular polarized film can eliminate harmful ambient
light reflected on TV monitors, and the protective glass of a picture frame,
etc.

When light passes through a polarized filter,
the filter transmits half of the light and absorbs the other half.

Light starts to rotate clockwise as it is transmitted through a circular
polarizer. The direction of rotation is inverted when it reflects of the
display and it starts to rotate counterclockwise. Again light re-enters
the polarizer. |

Circular polarizing filters only transmits clockwise rotating light, and
absorbs counterclockwise rotating light. The reflected ambient light is
absorbed resulting ina clean image without reflections. |
